Quick Air Fryer Donut Holes

A white plate of cinnamon sugar biscuits on a lace doily, set on a wooden table with a fork and a glass of tea nearby.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar

  • 1 egg

  • ¼ cup milk

  • 2 tbsp melted butter (not margarine)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • ½ cup powdered sugar (for dusting or glaze)

  • Optional: ¼ tsp ground cinnamon for added flavor

Instructions

  1. Mix the dry ingredients In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and granulated sugar.

  2. Prepare the wet ingredients In another bowl, whisk the egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  3. Combine and shape Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry until a sticky dough forms. Lightly flour your hands and roll the dough into 1-inch balls.

  4. Preheat the air fryer Heat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3 minutes.

  5. Cook the donut holes Spray the air fryer basket lightly with non-seed oil (like coconut oil). Arrange the donut holes in a single layer, leaving space between them. Air fry for 6–8 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking.

  6. Finish and serve Let the donut holes cool for a minute, then dust with powdered sugar or dip in a glaze made with powdered sugar and a splash of milk.

Prompt

The kids were begging for donuts and I didn't feel like driving anywhere, so I thought I'll try to make something quick myself. My husband loves Chef John so I wanted to try and make something in his style:

I want chef John style quick donut hole in air fryer recipe

The recipe I got was actually the one I posted so not a lot of prompting happened here other than me asking to add calories, time, and nutritional values.
